Some 400 convicts want to serve sentences in Kyiv-controlled Ukraine, not in ORDLO

About 400 prisoners in occupied areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions (ORDLO) are willing to serve their sentences in territory under Ukraine’s control, Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada human rights ombudsman Valeria Lutkovska has said.

The ombudsman said in an interview with the Channel 5 that she had been informed about this by prisoners’ relatives.

"With regard to the so-called DPR/LPR, there about 200 persons on the list in both territories – the DPR/LPR have 200 captives each. They are the ones who addressed me with a request for transferring. We were told about poor medical care and those [convicted], who have chronic diseases, are risking their lives. In any case, I will do everything to take them all away," Lutkovska said.

She informed that more than 130 convicts have been transferred from the colonies in the occupied territories of Donetsk region to the establishments on the territory controlled by Ukraine.
