SBU announces plans to counteract Russian plans to destabilize Ukraine
The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has a plan to counteract Russian intentions to destabilize the situation in Ukraine to hold early parliamentary elections, chief of the SBU national protection department Anatoliy Dublyk has said.
"The plan is ready, all the forces and resources, the SBU and Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine at their disposal, have been readied. We work closely with the National Police, other law enforcement agencies, courts and prosecutor's office," Dublyk said at a briefing in Kyiv on Friday.
"If we hadn’t had such a plan, you know, what would have happened on the streets of Kyiv ... The plan is effective, we are working around the clock," the head of the department said.
At the same time, he said that all the actions of law enforcement officers in this regard do not violate the rights of citizens.
"People have the right to take to the streets and make themselves heard, but when they are being used to do this at protests [this is unacceptable]," Dublyk said.
