Some 1,500 merged communities can be formed in prospect in Ukraine - Zubko
Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Utilities of Ukraine Hennadiy Zubko has said that up to 1,500 merged territorial communities can be created in the country.
"We had 159 territorial communities in the first year, and we will have 368 ones after January 1, 2017. We can not call the total number, as it is a voluntary association. According to the long-range plans, as far as we can forecast, there could be some 1,500 of merged communities," he said a briefing in Kyiv on Friday, after the signing ceremony of the memorandum of cooperation with EDGE in the field of decentralization.
According to Zubko, now, due to changes in the legislation, the issue of joining new territories to the already created communities has been regulated.
He urged the youth to actively participate in the field of decentralization processes at the local level.
