Republicans keep control of U.S. Congress – media reports
America's Republican Party could keep control of the U.S. Congress, both the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate, according to preliminary election results.
According to predictions made by the Cable News Network (CNN), the Republican Party will have 51 seats in the Senate, and the Democratic Party only 47.
Republicans also will keep control of the House of Representatives, keeping 234 seats, compared to 186 for the Democrats.
