Information policy minister, Japanese ambassador discuss aid in equipping international broadcasting multimedia platform
The assistance from Japan in providing technical equipment for Ukraine's international broadcasting multimedia platform has been discussed by Ukrainian Information Policy Minister Yuriy Stets and Japanese Ambassador to Ukraine Shigeki Sumi.
The press service of the Information Policy Ministry reported that at a meeting on Thursday the sides also agreed to try to find a possibility of launching the Japanese version of Ukrinform news agency that would help Japanese to receive information directly from Ukraine.
Stets asked Shigeki Sumi to raise the issue of Roman Suschenko, a special correspondent of the Ukrinform Ukrainian national news agency arrested in Moscow for international discussion.
"I would kindly request you to assist in raising this issue because any statement from a country is a path of liberation for the journalist," he said, adding that the issue is a political one.
Shigeki Sumi expressed his understanding of the importance regarding the issue of the arrested Ukrainian correspondent. He pointed out an interest in receiving information directly from Ukrainian sources for Japan.
