Security should be priority in Minsk accords implementation - Kuchma
Ukraine's representative in the Trilateral Contact Group on the settlement of the situation in Donbas, the second President of Ukraine, Leonid Kuchma, has stressed the priority of implementation of those provisions of the Minsk agreements which are included in the security block.
"Security should be in priority, and then everything else - it's clear for everybody. And we should defend this position at all levels," Kuchma said in Kyiv, asked what option of the Minsk agreements implementation he considers to be most realistic: gradual and simultaneous.
He also noted it is needed to continue work to ensure the fulfillment of the Minsk agreements.
"This does not mean that we need to hold elections tomorrow... If there is no security, relatively speaking, laws will never be passed in parliament [in Ukraine]. We'll have enough common sense," Kuchma said.
However, he expressed belief it is necessary to continue negotiations with all the partners and parties.
