Yanukovych's lawyer says no final decision on ex-president's interrogation via video conference

Lawyer of former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych, Vitaliy Serdiuk, has said there has been no final official response from Russia regarding the interrogation of his client via the video conference between Russian and Ukrainian courts.

"Now we are witnessing the usual procedure of agreeing the materials of this kind within foreign courts. While we are waiting for a final answer from the Russian Federation as a whole and not from one of the local courts. We are waiting for the response of the Russian Justice Ministry to Ukraine's request," he told Interfax-Ukraine on Friday.

Serdiuk said that the Soviet District Court of Rostov-on-Don may indeed have no necessary technical facilities for the organization of such interrogations, and can now look for other solutions to this situation.

Assistant chairman of the Soviet District Court in Rostov-on-Don Artur Maslov told Interfax-South on Friday, the Soviet District Court of Rostov-on-Don refused to conduct a video conference interrogation of Yanukovych and former commander of the Interior Troops of Ukraine Stanislav Shuliak as it has no necessary technical equipment.

Earlier, the Russian Justice Ministry sent to the Soviet District Court of Rostov-on-Don Ukraine's request to question Yanukovych and Shuliak via video conference.
