NABU turns to Interpol with request to put accused judge Chaus on wanted list
The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) has send Interpol a request to put judge Mykola Chaus, a judge from Kyiv's Dniprovsky district, on its international wanted list.
"Documents relating to Chaus have been sent," the press service of NABU told Interfax.
As earlier reported, NABU detectives on August 9 together with prosecutors from Ukraine's Prosecutor General's Office (PGO) in charge of corruption cases uncovered a bribe of USD 150,000 paid to Chaus. The money was found hidden in glass jars in the yard of Chaus' domestic dwelling.
Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada on September 6 supported the PGO's request to authorize the arrest and pretrial detention of Chaus.
Prosecutors next said Chaus was probably hiding in occupied Crimea.
NABU head Artem Sytnik at the start of October did not rule out the possibility Chaus could return to Ukraine. He added NABU was preparing documents on the case for Interpol.
