Two dozen prison inmates from Donbas transferred to territory controlled by Ukrainian government - Lutkovska
The office of Ukrainian human rights commissioner Valeria Lutkovska has said that 23 convicts have been transferred to the Ukrainian side by representatives of illegal armed groups in eastern Ukraine. The transferred convicts will serve out their prison terms in territory controlled by the Ukrainian government.
"The next transfer of inmates to the controlled territory has been successful. There are 23 people, including one woman," Lutkovska wrote on her Facebook page on Wednesday, illustrating the message with convicts’ photos at a meeting attended by representatives of the so-called Donetsk People's Republic.
The commissioner’s press service told Interfax-Ukraine the transfer process took place on Wednesday afternoon. It said persons expressing their desire to serve out their sentence on the territory controlled by the Ukrainian government were transferred to the Ukrainian side.
