Yanukovych as president acted in favor of Russia

Ukrainian Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko has held a working meeting on the investigation into criminal proceedings against former president of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych. The purpose of the meeting was to test the state of the investigation into these cases.

"According to the conclusion of the investigators, Yanukovych's activities as the president of Ukraine were subordinated to the interests of the Russian Federation in matters relating to national security as evidenced by the decrees he signed, appointments to the key positions of people with Russian citizenship, and so on. The activities of Yanukovych are qualified under Article 255 (the creation of a criminal organization) and Article 111 (high treason) of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine," reads the statement posted on the website of the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine (PGO).

The ministry said Yanukovych's actions are considered in the following areas: deliberate acts to the detriment of the sovereignty, territorial integrity and inviolability, the defense capability of the state, as well as the economic and information security of Ukraine.
