Ukrainian military observe ceasefire, while militants don't – Muzhenko
Ukrainian military strictly observe the ceasefire in Donbas, Chief of General Staff - Commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Viktor Muzhenko said at a meeting with OSCE Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) Principal Deputy Chief Monitor Alexander Hug.
"Ukrainian troops strictly adhere to the ceasefire, however the enemy is shelling us with the use of mortars and small arms, there are also armed provocations involving sabotage groups," the Ukrainian Defense Ministry's press service quoted Muzhenko as saying.
The chief of general staff said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine welcomes any political efforts aimed at settling the conflict in eastern Ukraine and the withdrawal of Russian troops from its territory. "At the same time, the withdrawal of troops and heavy weapons from the demarcation line is only possible amid sustainable ceasefire," Muzhenko said.
