Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has held a meeting with U.S. Vice President Joseph Biden at the 71st session of the UN General Assembly.
"The interlocutors discussed the situation in Donbas and the implementation of the Minsk agreement," the Ukrainian president's press service reported.
Poroshenko thanked the United States for strengthening sanctions against Russia. The two officials agreed to intensify diplomatic efforts to end the Russian aggression against Ukraine.
The Ukrainian president also emphasized the importance of the IMF's decision to provide the third tranche to Ukraine and stressed his country's commitment to continue reforms.
Biden told Poroshenko that the U.S. is ready to provide Ukraine with $1 billion in loan guarantees, since Ukraine has fulfilled the necessary conditions.
