EU concerned about Rada attempts to dilute e-declaration idea in Ukraine - Hahn
The European Union underlines the need for a full functioning in Ukraine the system of electronic declaring of persons’ income and are concerned about attempts to dilute the effectiveness of this anti-corruption measures by the adoption of amendments to the Ukrainian legislation, Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn has said.
"Reforms should be irreversible, so we very much welcome the introduction of electronic declaration of assets system. However, we are very concerned about the attempts, including through the Verkhovna Rada, to blur the idea, which is behind this system. As far as we know, some legislative changes have already been articulated, that can seriously hinder these anti-corruption measures," Hahn told journalists in Kyiv on Friday.
He also reminded that those delays that have already taken place with the launch of the system, made a negative impression. Hahn stressed that the functioning of the system in practice is a prerequisite for obtaining visa-free regime with the EU for Ukraine.
