Ukrainian foreign minister counts on Russia's 'reasonable attitude' to ballot at diplomatic missions

Russian diplomatic missions to Ukraine should respect Ukrainian laws, which define Crimea as a part of Ukrainian territory, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin said.

"As to holding the elections here, at diplomatic missions, the diplomatic missions shall respect laws of the country of stay. Our constitution is very clear about Crimea as an integral part of Ukraine, which makes this decision both political and legal," he said in the Svoboda Slova program aired by the ICTV television channel on Monday evening.

Klimkin expects Russia to demonstrate "a reasonable attitude" to this matter. "Speaking of future events, we will interact with international partners so that contacts with the prospective Duma depend on the outcome of these elections," he said.

The issue does not have a direct impact on the possible breakup of diplomatic relations with Russia, the Ukrainian foreign minister said.
