Trilateral Contact Group on Donbas calls for open-ended ceasefire in Donbas starting Sept 1
The working subgroup on security in the Trilateral Contact Group on Donbas discussed a ceasefire at a meeting in Minsk on Friday, and the Trilateral Contact Group, including representatives of certain districts in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, agreed on the need to declare an open-ended ceasefire in the area starting September 1, 2016, in light of the beginning of a new academic year, Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Special Representative in the Contact Group Martin Sajdik said at a press conference in Minsk on Friday.
Sajdik called on all parties to express their support for this statement at the top level.
Sajdik reiterated that this was truly a joint initiative of all parties to the Trilateral Contact Group and underscored the word 'open-ended' with regard to a planned ceasefire.
