NABU employee, allegedly implicated in corruption, was lawfully engaged in teaching
The teaching activity of the employee of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU), in respect of whom the State Security Service (SBU) drew up a protocol about an administrative offence, is not an offence at all, NABU Director Artem Sytnyk has said.
"It is impossible to comment on the situation without laughter," he said at a briefing in Kyiv on Monday, adding that "she received money for teaching activities and declared it. This is not an offence at all, not even an administrative one."
The NABU director said the position of the employee is not associated with the law enforcement activity. She is the deputy head of the NABU department for providing the work of the NABU director and her direct duties include organization of international meetings of the bureau top managers.
Earlier the SBU press center said the service officers had accused the deputy head of one of the NABU departments, who unlawfully earned money in another organization, of corruption.
"The law enforcement agencies established that the former Russian citizen received Ukrainian citizenship in 2002. In 2013-2014 she worked for the Ukrainian embassy in Moscow, occupying senior positions. During her work at the NABU, receiving a wage of almost UAH 40,000 and having access to confidential information, she three times participated in events of one of the European funds as a 'coach'," the SBU's press service said.
Thus, the civil servant violated Article 25 of the law of Ukraine on prevention of corruption and Part 2 of Article 13 of the law of Ukraine on the National Anti-Corruption Bureau.
The SBU agents upon agreement with the Prosecutor General's Office drew up a protocol against the NABU employee on an administrative offence under Part 1 of Article 1724 (violation of limitations in combining jobs and types of activity) of the Administrative Offense Code of Ukraine.
The protocol was sent to the Kyiv Solomiansky District Court for consideration.
