PGO calls in former deputy head of Naftogaz Katsuba for questioning

The Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine (PGO) has called the former deputy head of PJSC Naftogaz Serhiy Katsuba in for questioning.

According to the notice, which was posted to the PGO's website, Katsuba is invited at 9.00 on August 8 to appear at the investigative office of the PGO (in Kyiv).

Katsuba is suspected of using his official position to embezzle funds during his tenure at Naftogaz.

The court earlier arrested Katsuba's brother, Oleksandr, and set bail.

As was earlier reported, in September 2015 the Katsuba brothers were suspected of violating Part 5, Article 191 of Ukraine's Criminal Code (acquiring, spending assets in large quantities or taking possession of them by means of misuse of public office). The Katsubas fled Ukraine.

The PGO in October 2015 put the Katsuba brothers on the international wanted list and closed the case against them on January 5, 2016.

Serhiy Katsuba from June 2010 has served as a member of Naftogaz' board of directors and later worked as the deputy chairman of Naftogaz (from July 2012 until his election to parliament in 2012) from the Party of Regions (then headed by disgraced former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych).

Oleksandr Kotsuba from September 2010 worked as deputy head of the Naftogaz subsidiary SJSC Chernomornaftogaz (Simferopol), and from November 2012 until July 2014 as deputy board chairman of Naftogaz.
