Washington remains committed to its open door policy and welcomes new members to NATO when they are ready, while Ukraine still has to do a lot in pursuing the necessary reforms to be ready to join the alliance, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said at a joint news conference with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko in Kyiv on Thursday.
Kerry referred to Poroshenko as saying that he and Ukraine had not yet decided whether to bid for NATO membership.
