Ukraine joins Council of Europe convention on football matches safety
Ukraine has joined the Council of Europe Convention on an Integrated Safety, Security and Service Approach at Football Matches and Other Sports Events.
Ukrainian Youth and Sports Minister Ihor Zhdanov signed the convention on July 3, according to the press service of the Youth and Sports Ministry of Ukraine.
Zhdanov said that the convention is focused on the main directions: order, security and safety. The document is also aimed at assistance to hospitality and ensuring safety inside and outside stadiums as well as improvement of a dialogue between the police, local authorities, football clubs and supporters.
The convention envisages strengthening of international police cooperation, implementation of more effective measures to prevent and punish for hooliganism during football matches and other sports events.
