Foreign ministry: Small border traffic between Poland and Ukraine suspended for month
The agreement on small border traffic between Poland and Ukraine has been suspended for less than a month, Ukraine's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maryana Betsa told Interfax-Ukraine.
"According to the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Poland, the agreement has been suspended due the holding of the NATO Summit in Warsaw on July 8-9 at the presidential level and the events dated to the World Youth Days," she said on Friday.
Betsa stressed that the small border traffic will resume on August 2, 2016.
Earlier, the State Border Service of Ukraine reported that from July 4, 2016 the small border traffic between Poland and Ukraine will be temporarily suspended. This traffic involves entry and stay in the territory of Poland of residents of border areas of Ukraine, who have a relevant permit issued by Polish authorities.
Thus, Poland has suspended the application of clause 1, Article 3 of the intergovernmental agreement on local border traffic approved by resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers No. 139 (139-2009-p) dated February 25, 2009, the border service said.
