Three scenarios are possible for eastern Ukraine: the conflict may escalate, the conflict may become frozen, and the conflict may progress towards a lasting peace, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (UNHCR) said.
The Ukraine situation remains volatile and may develop under three scenarios, UN Assistant Secretary-General for Human Rights Ivan Simonovic said, adding that the third scenario of gradual progress towards a lasting peace was desirable.
He said he could see from his visit to Ukraine that the Minsk agreements were not popular but were still the best chance for a lasting peace, and that there must be some efficient way of their implementation.
