Rada lacks votes to establish commission to probe offshore companies
The Verkhovna Rada has failed to create a temporary investigative commission to probe media reports on the use of offshore companies by Ukraine's president and other senior officials.
Only 108 lawmakers voted for relevant draft resolution No. 4704 on Wednesday.
According to the draft decision, the commission's task was to ensure impartial and transparent investigation into reports on offshore companies belonging to Ukraine's President Petro Poroshenko, Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine Valeriya Gontareva, Finance Minister Oleksandr Danyliuk and other senior officials based on data released by the media, in accordance with the Constitution of Ukraine and the regulations of the Verkhovna Rada.
