Nnumber of conditions to be created for elections in Donbas
The deputy minister of Ukraine on the temporarily occupied territories and internally displaced persons, the former head of the Luhansk regional civil and military administration, Heorhiy Tuka, has stated he has never been against elections in Donbas, but appropriate conditions are necessary for their implementation.
"I've never opposed the elections. I have always said there are no preconditions for this. There are no preconditions now as well. They need to be created. If we succeed in creating them, why not hold the elections. However, in such circumstances we have now we cannot talk about any elections," he said.
Tuka said before holding elections it is needed to implement a number of measures that will ensure the legitimacy of elections, their compliance with Ukrainian legislation, participation of all political parties, the security of electoral commissions and mass media.
According to him, the elections will become the last step towards the reintegration of Donbas.
