Media reports: G7 summit in May to back extension of Russia sanctions until Minsk peace deal observed
G7 heads look for putting the lifting of sanctions from Russia in dependence to the full implementation of Minsk agreements by Moscow and respect of Ukraine's sovereignty.
The decision would be made at G7 summit to take place in Japan on May 26 and May 27, European media reported on Tuesday.
The economic sanctions against Russia will expire in late July 2016.
German and U.S. diplomatic circles said that G7 heads would also discuss the extension of sanctions against Russia.
The Japanese government sees parallels between Russia's behavior towards Ukraine and actions of Beijing in two seas - South China Sea and East China Sea. Tokyo backs the general position of G7 towards the two countries.
G7 could oppose construction of artificial islands and military infrastructure in South China Sea as this could disturb the current state of affairs, Deuche Welle radio station reported.
