Rada renames some towns and districts as part of de-communization
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has renamed another 124 populated areas in Ukraine as part of the implementation of the law on decommunization.
Relevant resolution No. 4468 was passed by 265 votes at the parliament's sitting on Thursday, an Interfax-Ukraine correspondent reported.
In particular, in Donetsk region a town of Dymytrov has changed its name to Myrnohrad, Krasnoarmiysk to Pokrovsk, and the two districts, whose centers these towns are, have been renamed into Myrnohrad and Pokrovsk districts, respectively.
The parliament renamed Kotovsk district in Odesa region into Podilsk district, and the town of Kotovsk into Podilsk.
The town of Schors and Schors district in Chernihiv region have become Snovsk and Snovsk district.
Volodarsk-Volynsky district in Zhytomyr region has become Khoroshiv district, after its central town Volodarsk-Volynsky was some time ago renamed into Khoroshiv. The town and district of Kuibyshyve were renamed into Belmak.
