Rada renames some population areas in occupied Donbas as part of decommunization campaign
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has renamed some population areas in occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
A total of 245 MPs voted in favor the resolution No. 4086 on Thursday, a correspondent of Interfax-Ukraine said.
According to an explanatory note, 38 population areas have been renamed in Donetsk region. The town of Yuzhnokomunarivsk of Yenakiyeve town council was renamed to Bunhe, the town of Kirovske to Khrestivka, Komsomolske in Starobeshivsky district to Kalmiuske and Torez to Chystiakove.
Telmanisvky district was renamed into Boykivsky district.
In Luhansk region, lawmakers renamed 36 residential areas.
The town of Kirovsk was renamed to Holubivka, Krasny Luch to Khrustalny, Krasnodon – Sorokyne and tSverdlovsk – Dovzhansk. Sverdlovsky district was renamed to Dovzhansky. The town of Stakhanov became Kadiyivka.
