Cooperation essential for holding elections in Donbas
OSCE Secretary General Lamberto Zannier has said he believes cooperation of all sides involved into the Donbas conflict is needed before elections can be organized there.
He told journalists in Kyiv on Monday that cooperation between the Ukrainian side and from the other side is essential. "The basic issue is making sure that everyone cooperates," he said.
"We need to have a clear concept emerging from Minsk about how these elections should take place. We have already said that we would be supportive of this process, to send in a large team of observers, so we will be happy to bring in the international community and to give legitimacy to the results, to the extent that we can. We need an agreement and clear understanding about the context and modalities of these elections," Zannier stressed.
