Savchenko defense hopes to agree on steps with Alexandrov and Yerofeyev's lawyers in case of swap decision
The defense teams for the Ukrainian military servicewoman Nadia Savchenko, who was convicted in Russia, and for the convicted Russian men Yevgeny Yerofeyev and Alexander Alexandrov will discuss a possibility of agreeing upon their actions to optimize the chances of a political decision on their clients' exchange, Savchenko's lawyer said.
"The recent months saw discussions of Savchenko's exchange for Alexandrov and Yerofeyev, this will become possible after the verdict [against Alexandrov and Yerofeyev] comes into effect, and I now hope that we and our Ukrainian colleagues will discuss a possible agreement upon actions of the defense in both cases to enable our clients to be exchanged as quickly as possible, if such a decision is made by the authorities of Russia and Ukraine," Savchenko's lawyer Ilya Novikov told reporters after the Holosiyivsky court in Kyiv announced the verdict to Alexandrov and Yerofeyev.
