Ukrainian athletes will receive $125,000 for Olympic gold medals – Zhdanov
Ukrainian sportsmen for medals won at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) will be paid $125,000 for gold, $85,000 for silver, and $55,000 for bronze, Minister of Youth and Sport Ihor Zhdanov has said.
"In comparison, the Russian government has established remuneration for winners of the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro at RUR 4 million, or about $58,000," the minister said.
According to the minister, payment of monetary rewards to sportsmen and coaches will be UAH 144 million.
He also added that the national budget foresees UAH 249.9 million for the preparation and participation of Ukrainian athletes in the Olympic Games.
