Poroshenko predicts only one mobilization wave in Ukraine in 2016
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said that only one wave of mobilization will be held in 2016, as more people sign up for contract military service because the improved conditions of service.
"Another possibility is the military contract service. And I am pleased to report that tens of thousands of Ukrainian patriots have taken this opportunity. It allows us to significantly delay the new wave of mobilization and reduce its size. If there is a mobilization this year, there will be the only one," Poroshenko said. The remarks came on the second anniversary of the formation of the special police patrol service battalions in Kyiv on Friday.
According to the president, if there is no threat to the country's east, those who joined the army during the 4th and 5th waves of mobilization will be dismissed from service.
