Dutch referendum outcome won't prevent Ukraine from visa-free travel with EU – foreign minister
The outcome of the recent referendum in the Netherlands on the ratification of the European Union-Ukraine Association Agreement should not be an obstacle for Ukraine to be granted visa-free travel with the EU countries, says Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin.
"There are clear assurances [by European politicians] that visa-free travel is an absolutely separate direction. And, if the European Commission gives the go-ahead – and the European Commission has already drawn up a relevant decision that Ukraine has fully complied with all of the requirements on its way toward visa-free travel – we are moving ahead toward visa-free travel," Klimkin said on Ukrainian television on Friday evening.
As reported, with reference to the Dutch referendum's preliminary results, that 61.1% of its participants voted against the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement and 38.1% supported its ratification.
