Poroshenko in Tokyo reiterates conditions for Donbas elections
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has again stated that Russia must fulfill definite conditions for holding the elections on the occupied territory of Donbas.
"The conditions for this should be set up," he told foreign journalists at the National Press Club of Japan in Tokyo on Wednesday.
Poroshenko reiterated these conditions: full-scale ceasefire in the region, withdrawal of military machinery and troops and full access for the OSCE special mission. He said elections could be held only if they are in accordance with Ukrainian law and OSCE standards.
"Foreign troops must get out and control over the border should be restored," the head of the Ukrainian state said.
