Defense Ministry: Seventh partial mobilization possible
The Ukrainian Defense Ministry's General Staff believes another partial mobilization is possible to replenish the Armed Forces personnel, First Deputy Defense Minister Ivan Rusnak has said.
"First of all, personnel will be added to the units on mission in the ATO [Anti-Terrorist Operation] zone. For the purposes of guaranteed staffing of military units and replacement of discharged servicemen, the General Staff has made necessary calculations and does not rule out the possibility of a seventh partial mobilization on a lesser scale. Its start will be determined by a relevant order of Ukraine's president," he said during Government Hour in the Verkhovna Rada on Friday.
Service by contract is the main source for replenishing personnel of military units, Rusnak said.
A total of 18,000 men have been recruited on contract this year, and the recruitment of another 8,000 is expected in April, he said.
As was reported, during the ongoing demobilization, which started late in March, 45,000 servicemen will be dismissed from the army service.
