Ukrenergo: Power supply to occupied Crimea could be resumed within hours
Ukraine could resume power supply to occupied Crimea using three restored 330 kV power transmission lines within several hours if the relevant agreements are reached, acting Head of National Energy Company Ukrenergo Vsevolod Kovalchuk said in Kyiv on Wednesday.
He said that all the pylons of the power lines have been restored and it could take several hours to connect them.
"These [three lines] have been restored in full. All destroyed pylons and wires were replaced. The stubs on the anchor pylons near the administrative border with Crimea are cut off," Kovalchuk said.
He said that Ukrenergo jointly with Khersonoblenergo are working on switching the fourth power line Kakhovska-Tytan from 150 kV to 220 kV. It can be also used to transmit electricity to Crimea.
Ukrenergo seeks to complete the switch work before June 1 and Khersonoblenergo – before June 15, 2016.
