Poroshenko hopes International Advisory Council to help in conducting reforms in Ukraine

The International Advisory Council will help conducting reforms and developing prosperous Ukraine, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said.

The president's press service has reported that Poroshenko expressed hope at a first meeting of the International Advisory Council on Saturday that the recommendations of the council members – top ranked international politicians and experts – will help Ukraine "to pass the period of dramatic events and Ukraine will become stronger."

Poroshenko said that the assembly of these prominent people who would help in conducting reforms and overcoming security challenges is very useful for Ukraine. He thanked council members for their efforts and readiness to express their support to Ukraine.

"Ukraine has good prospects for reforms. Ukraine will be the country with an independent judicial system, rule of law, democracy, good investment climate and security. Ukraine would have a prosperous future," the president said.

Poroshenko informed meeting participants on the course of reforms in Ukraine – combating against corruption, building the rule-of-law system and judicial reform, the decentralization and all the steps required "to return Ukraine to Europe."

"I would like to join our efforts to achieve the results and bring positive things to Ukraine," he said.

Members of the council and world leaders, in particular, former Prime Minister of Australia Tony Abbott, Polish politician and economist Leszek Balcerowicz, Head of the European Parliament Committee on Foreign Affairs Elmar Brok, ex-premier of Slovakia Mikulas Dzurinda, former Prime Minister of Lithuania Andrius Kubilius, ex-foreign minister of Poland Radoslaw Sikorski, first deputy finance minister of Poland Marek Dabrowski and Polish politician, journalist Miroslaw Czech.
