Poroshenko's administration confirms receipt of Shokin's letter of resignation
Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin tendered his resignation to the Ukrainian Presidential Administration on Friday, Ukrainian presidential press secretary Sviatoslav Tseholko has said.
"Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin has tendered his resignation. The statement was submitted to the Presidential Administration today," Tseholko wrote in his Twitter account.
"I have seen it myself," the press secretary said.
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said in his address to the nation, on February 16 that he had asked Shokin to step down.
Shokin was appointed as the Ukrainian Prosecutor General in February 2015.
