Italy refuses to extradite ex-MP Markov to Ukraine
Italy has refused to extradite former member of Ukrainian parliament Ihor Markov to Ukraine, Ukrainian MP Ihor Mosiychuk has said.
"Italy has refused to give out Ukrainophobe former MP Ihor Markov, known in criminal circles under a nickname of Maradona, to Ukraine. This is another 'achievement' of our Prosecutor General's Office, for which no one will answer," he wrote on Facebook on Friday.
As reported, on August 12, 2015, Markov was detained in San Remo, Italy, by Interpol. Two days late, he was arrested by an Italian court, and later placed under house arrest. According to Justice Minister Pavlo Petrenko, Ukraine has prepared and sent to the Italian side enough materials to demand the extradition of Markov.
