Ukrainian celebrities ask president to end broadcasting of Russian video and audio
Some Ukrainian artists and singers have appealed to Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko with a request to close Ukrainian broadcasting space to video and audio products from Russia.
"Today, all the Russian media products contain an element of propaganda or glorification of Russian troops, or the ideas of the Russian world. The strategy to ban certain actors or movies was not effective enough. We believe that any intellectual product from Russia should be prohibited," member of Kozak System music band Ivan Lenio said at a press conference in Kyiv on Thursday.
He also stressed that the sale of Russian media products not only brings profits to Russian producers, but also oppresses Ukrainian media production.
"We request from the president to ban import of any video and audio products from Russia for the sake of the national security, as well as to prohibit broadcasting of these products on the Ukrainian television and radio," he stressed.
Lenio also said that a group of Ukrainian celebrities intended to register a relevant petition on the presidential website.
