Ukrainian diplomats verifying whether any Ukrainians hurt in Istanbul explosion
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry is verifying information as to whether any Ukrainian citizens were hurt in the explosion in Istanbul, representative of the consulate service department of the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine Yevhen Ihnatovsky said.
"Our embassy and consulate are verifying information," he told Interfax-Ukraine on Tuesday being asked whether there are victims among Ukrainian citizens.
As reported, the explosion occurred on Sultanahmet Square in the center of Istanbul on Tuesday, the Turkish media said.
Ten people were killed and another 15 suffered injuries, according to a report posted on the online portal of the Turkish newspaper Hurriyet with reference to the Istanbul governor's office.
Sultanahmet Square accommodates a number of Istanbul tourist attractions – Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque and the Hippodrome.
