Large-scale landmine clearance process in Donbas to begin in spring
A large-scale landmine clearance process in Donbas will begin in spring, Ukraine's envoy in the Minsk Trilateral Contact Group's subgroup for humanitarian affairs, MP from the Petro Poroshenko Bloc faction Iryna Gerashchenko has said.
"We plan that a large-scale landmine clearance process will begin this spring when the weather conditions become favorable," she told Channel 5 on Tuesday.
Gerashchenko said that issues related to landmine clearance in Donbas were discussed by all subgroups of the Trilateral Contact Group in Minsk. "We've discussed the issues of demining within all subgroups. This is the problem that will need years to be fixed... We have identified 12 priority areas [for landmine clearance] in the conflict zone, and the process at four infrastructure projects has already begun," she added.
