Plans to destabilize Ukraine, make government resign fail with 2016 budget adoption – Yatseniuk
Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk says the plans of Kyiv's opponents to destabilize the country and make the government resign failed with the adoption of a national budget for 2016.
"This is not the government's or the prime minister's support, this is the country's support. This is a vote of confidence in Ukrainian reforms," Yatseniuk said at a government session on Friday.
"This is a sign that the Ukrainian political class really understands its political responsibility for the country's fate. All plans to destabilize the country, make the government resign, and disrupt our reform plan failed this morning," Yatseniuk said.
He described the public's support as "a credit of trust" that the government and the parliamentarians who supported the budget cannot lose. "If we were wrong, we would have never passed new bills on drawing up the economic and social sections of the budget."
Yatseniuk pointed out that not all factions of the majority coalition voted for the budget. "I can assess this only as evading responsibility. This is irresponsibility and a weak position," he said.
