EU to agree to introduce 'Savchenko list' if Russia rejects political agreements on prisoner exchange
A 'Savchenko (sanctions) list', similar to the 'Magnitsky blacklist', may be put into force if Ukraine and Russia do not agree on a prisoner exchange, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin has said.
"We have started to work on this mechanism ['Savchenko list']. But, so far, the attitude towards this idea is very cautious, including in terms of dates. As far as [prisoner] exchanges are concerned, they [the European side] also hope for possible political agreements," Klimkin said in an interview with Hromadske TV on Monday evening.
If these agreements are not reached, the work on this mechanism will be stepped up very promptly, he added.
