Canadian instructors may help establish Ukraine's National Police Academy
National Police Head Khatia Dekanoidze has discussed during her visit to Canada the possibility of broader cooperation in reforming Ukraine's law enforcement system.
In particular, she raised the issue of foreign partners' participation in the establishment of the National Police Academy, the National Police press service reported on Friday.
Dekanoidze also noted that there are many areas for cooperation between Canadian and Ukrainian law enforcement agencies, in particular the provision of equipment for patrol police officers and training of police inspectors by Canada's training mission.
The national police head also said that she asked the Canadian side to increase the number of Canadian instructors and prolong their stay in Ukraine.
"I hope that our cooperation with Canada will be broadening," Dekanoidze said adding that they invited the Canadian police leadership to visit Ukraine with an assessment mission.
On December 17, Canadian Ambassador to Ukraine Roman Waschuk handed over a certificate for 1,359 uniforms for the Ukrainian patrol police, along with 1,420 personal video recorders.
