A goal by midfielder Denys Harmash put Ukraine's reigning champions Dynamo Kyiv into the Champions League last 16 with a 1:0 home win over Maccabi Tel-Aviv in Kyivv on Wednesday.
Dynamo Kyiv and Maccabi Tel Aviv met in their Champions League Group G clash at the NSC Olimpiysky. Kyiv had to win to keep their hopes of reaching the knockout phase alive, while they also had to hope that there was a winner in the other Group G match between Chelsea and Porto.
Denys Harmash fired his side ahead in the 16th minute of the match, which proved to be enough to secure the victory for Serhiy Rebrov's men, while Chelsea triumphed over Porto to send themselves and the Ukrainian outfit through to the last 16th minute of the Champions League.
Dynamo experienced few problems in keeping their lead to progress into the Champions League playoffs after a 16-year wait.
