Biden urges Ukraine to focus on fighting corruption
Ukraine has not done everything yet in its fight against corruption, United States Vice President Joe Biden told the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada on Tuesday.
Ukraine has already done a great of deal of work of critical importance, but not everything has yet been done, he said. He said that while he never tells people in other countries what they should do, a democracy cannot thrive amidst corruption, which he likened to a cancerous tumor.
A successful fight against corruption requires the reform of the judiciary; everyone, even oligarchs, must act under the same rules, pay taxes, and not interfere with the course of justice, Biden said.
