Ukrainian Defense Ministry in 2015 signs 100 military contracts with foreign partner worth UAH 4.404 bln – Poroshenko
Ukraine's President Petro Poroshenko has said that the Defense Ministry of Ukraine in 2015 concluded 100 contracts for military and technical assistance with foreign partners.
"We feel not only moral and political, but military and technical support of the international community... In 2015, the Defense Ministry signed 100 relevant contracts with a total worth of UAH 4.404 billion," he said on Friday before the awards ceremony for Ukrainian servicemen on the occasion of the Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The president said that in 2015, the army received about 34,000 new and upgraded models of weapons.
"Perhaps, in absolute terms and in comparison with some other countries, including Russia, it is not much. Russia's military budget is 40 times bigger than our budget, which we increased in 2014-2015 as much as we could," he said.
In addition, according to the head of state, they have taken strict measures to eradicate corruption in the Defense Ministry, primarily due to the efforts of volunteers.
