The incumbent Georgian president has issued a resolution depriving the country's former President Mikheil Saakashvili of his Georgian citizenship.
"Mikheil Saakashvili, born on December 21, 1967, has been deprived of Georgian citizenship along with other citizens of Georgia who gained citizenship of other countries," the head of state's resolution says.
On December 3, Georgia's Justice Ministry recommended that the Georgian president deprive Saakashvili of his Georgian citizenship because he became a citizen of Ukraine.
Saakashvili currently holds the post of governor in Ukraine's Odesa region.
