Appointment of new anti-corruption prosecutor historical opportunity for Ukraine – Pyatt
U.S. Ambassador in Ukraine Geoffrey Pyatt has positively estimated appointment of Nazar Kholodnytsky as new anti-corruption prosecutor of Ukraine, and giving up of a mandate by People' Front faction member Mykola Martynenko.
"Assigning Nazar Kholodnytsky as new anti-corruption prosecutor is a victory for Ukraine," Pyatt wrote on Twitter.
U.S. Ambassador praised Ukraine for successful combat against corruption.
According to him, a decision of Martynenko to leave Verkhovna Rada is another sign of Ukraine's will for changes.
"There's no place for corruption or nepotism among officials who serve their nation," he wrote.
As reported, Mykola Martynenko has announced he will give up his mandate in connection with a corruption-related scandal involving his name and a smear campaign against him.
Prosecutor General of Ukraine Viktor Shokin has appointed First Deputy Prosecutor of Crimea Nazar Kholodnytsky to be Anti-Corruption Prosecutor.
