Ukraine hopes for positive feedback from Brussels on EU states' protest against Nord Stream 2
Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatseniuk has urged the European Commission to consider opinion of ten members of the European Union and to hamper construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline from Russia to Germany.
"Ten states of European Union said harshly stated against the construction of Nord Stream…We expect that European Commission will listen to the stance of the European partners, and this project won't be built," said Yatseniuk at the sitting of the energy staff in Kyiv on Friday.
The premier stressed that this building is anti-Ukrainian and anti-European project, meant to deprive Ukraine of its transit powers and to lose nearly $2 billion of gas transit payment, and also to strengthen Russian gas monopoly on the European market.
As reported, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Romania sent the aforementioned letter to Brussels.
