Lieutenant colonel killed of grenade detonation at Desna training camp – Defense Ministry
Lieutenant colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was killed as a result of the grenade detonation during the combat training at Desniansky war training ground (Chernihiv region) on November 26, one soldier was injured.
"On November 26, lieutenant colonel of the Armed Forces was killed at the 169th training centre of the Desna Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as a result of the accident. One soldier received splinter wound," a press service of the Defense Ministry of Ukraine said on Saturday.
According to the preliminary data, the accident happened on the military firing range in the course of the military training as a result of the hollow charge grenade explosion.
The wounded soldier was rendered a first medical aid, after which he was delivered to the military hospital. A state of health was stable, his life is not in danger, the ministry said.
An official investigation was scheduled over the given accident.
